Precautions: Red resin permanently stains clothing/fabric.

Traditional Preparation: For external use, the resin/sap is rubbed directly onto the affected area several times a day and allowed to dry. Please note: the resin is red! It will temporarily stain skin a reddish-brown (which will wash out), but will permanently stain clothing. Rubbing the rosin into the palm of your hand first or directly where it is applied will thicken the rosin into a thin, lighter-colored paste, which helps form a second skin over a wound or rash and reduces blemishes. For internal use, the traditional remedy is 10 to 15 drops in a small amount of liquid, taken 1 to 3 times a day (be prepared, though, it tastes pretty bad).
